SomaticScan is an automated somatic cell counter for raw cow and buffalo milk. It helps dairy farms, milk collection points, laboratories, and processors monitor SCC and investigate possible udder-health problems.

How somatic cell counting works

SomaticScan uses fluorescence microscopy and automated image analysis to count cells in a stained milk sample. The result is a somatic cell count (SCC), expressed as cells per millilitre. Follow the sample preparation and operating instructions to obtain consistent measurements.

SCC testing and mastitis screening

SCC results should be interpreted alongside sample history, clinical observations, and veterinary advice; cell counting does not identify the organism causing an infection.
