What does SomaticScan measure?

It measures the somatic cell count, expressed as cells per millilitre, in prepared samples of raw cow and buffalo milk. The Combo instrument also provides ultrasonic milk-composition analysis.

Does a high SCC result diagnose mastitis?

An elevated SCC indicates udder inflammation and supports mastitis screening. Interpret the result alongside sample history, clinical observations and veterinary advice. SCC does not identify the causative organism.

What supplies do I need for testing?

Testing requires the specified chip, staining dye and pipette supplies, together with correct sample preparation. A 100-test starter kit is included with the instrument. Refill kits are available.

What will testing cost?

Ask for a quotation covering the instrument, refill supplies, shipping and any applicable taxes. The ongoing cost depends on the kit supplied and your testing workload.

Can I see a demonstration before deciding?

Contact our team with your country and intended use to discuss the demonstration options available to you.

How do I become a distributor?

Send your country, company website and a short description of your sales and service capabilities. We will discuss market availability, product evaluation and the requirements for a partnership.

What SCC level should prompt follow-up?

For individual cow milk, 200,000 cells/mL is commonly used as a screening threshold. It is not a universal diagnostic cutoff. Bulk-tank results have a different interpretation. Follow veterinary guidance and the requirements relevant to your milk buyer and country.
